Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL seeks an Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) to maintain a safe hospital environment by disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms and public areas.

You will handle waste, restock supplies, maintain floors and surfaces, and respond to urgent cleaning needs across the facility, ensuring infection prevention and patient comfort with meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively.
• One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures, preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent the spread of infections
• Properly disposing of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols
• Restock supplies like gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in various hospital areas
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents and communicate promptly using phone, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling between facilities independently
