Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama, is seeking an Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment. This role involves cleaning and disinfecting patient areas, handling waste disposal, and restocking supplies. Additionally, the EVS Tech responds to urgent cleaning needs to maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the hospital.

The position is per diem, with shifts available during the day. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and experience in environmental service techniques is a plus.

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent the spread of infections.
• Properly disposing of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols.
• Restock supplies like gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in various hospital areas.
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals.
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a n Environmental Services Technician, also referred to as a EVS Tech or Hospital Housekeeper. The EVS Tech ensures a safe and healthy environment by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent infection. The EVS Tech will handle waste disposal, restock supplies, maintain floors and surfaces, and respond to urgent cleaning needs.

Employment Type: per diem

Hours: 8 – hour – 7:00a – 3:30p

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent the spread of infections
• Properly disposing of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols
• Restock supplies like gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in various hospital areas
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents and communicate promptly using phone, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling between facilities independently

• Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
