Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a flexible Food Service Worker to support the Ruby Cafeteria and related Nutrition Department operations.

You will perform duties from tray line to dish room, maintain sanitation, and deliver quality service to patients and customers. Shift patterns include early mornings and alternating weekends. This role is on-site and non-exempt, with opportunities to grow within hospital food service.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) or temporary permit required before start
• Must obtain permanent MCHD FSWP within 1 month of start date

Responsibilities

• Prepares work areas for operation per task assignment
• Maintains sanitizer strength and cleaning routines
• Sets up, restocks, and maintains organized work areas
• Gathers utensils and portions according to standards
• Produces and maintains quality food and beverages
• Prepares attractive, appetizing foods using quality ingredients
• Works with leftovers using first in, first out method
• Follows menu cycle and standardized recipes
• Ensures customer/patient satisfaction through quality service
• Greets customers and serves efficiently while staying customer-focused
• Addresses allergies and unclear ingredients with staff
• Assists management in equipment operation and safety compliance
• Removes trash promptly and maintains clean work areas
• Labels and stores food items and chemicals properly
