Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking a full-time cook under the Food & Nutrition Services leadership. The role involves preparing patient meals, staff meals, and visitor items per recipes and safety standards.

The position requires 1–3 years of related kitchen experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire. Benefits are provided, with a 40-hour week in a busy hospital kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and communicates to Director/Supervisor; assists in storing.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate.
