Job summary

Sierra Medical Center in Nevada is hiring a full-time Cook to support patient meals, staff and visitors under the supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead. You will prepare meals according to approved recipes and ensure proper appearance and timely service.

The position offers full benefits and a 40-hour work week with a convenient schedule in a hospital setting. Prior food service experience and ServSafe certification are preferred but not required at hire,

Qualifications

• 1-3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
• Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and communicates to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
• Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.
• Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate.
