Job summary

The University of Michigan's Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time culinary teammate to stock, prepare, and serve meals for patients while maintaining kitchen equipment and safety standards.

You will work 31 hours per week with Friday–Monday shifts, enjoy health coverage and retirement matching, and must have at least one year of fast-paced food service experience and ServSafe certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of culinary experience in a fast-paced food service environment.
• Ability to successfully pass the ServSafe Food Handlers Certification within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to multitask and work at a fast pace.
• Ability to perform physical job tasks safely (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing up to 8 hours).
• Excellent reading, listening, and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare salads, entrees, soups, and desserts according to recipes.
• Coordinate and perform preparation, portioning, and distribution of salads.
• Heat food and prepare items for lunch/dinner service; prepare sandwiches and soups.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely (grills, steamers, mixers).
• Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and ensure proper storage.
