Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Receptionist for the Main Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. In this Concierge role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff, delivering a warm, professional welcome and guiding them through the hospital experience.

You will greet people, answer questions, provide directions, manage calls, issue visitor passes, and support security and volunteer activities. A high school diploma and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn hospital systems.
• Ability to remain organized while managing multiple responsibilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and courtesy.
• Provide accurate information and directions; anticipate needs.
• Answer incoming calls promptly and route according to procedures.
• Monitor the reception desk to ensure excellent service each shift.
• Issue and collect visitor passes following security protocols.
• Assist with parking information and wayfinding for patients and guests.
• Support volunteer activities and coordinate volunteers at the desk.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming reception area and provide admin support as needed.
