Qualifications

• Four (4) years of relevant hospital coding or auditing experience required.
• Experience coding/auditing in a trauma facility or academic teaching facility strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines.
• Knowledge of 3M Coding applications and resolving coding edits.
• Working knowledge of reimbursement systems, policies, and compliance in coding and billing.
• Knowledge of database applications and spreadsheet design.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits and monitor coding accuracy with feedback to staff.
• Develop and coordinate educational sessions on documentation and coding.
• Serve as a resource for coding staff on standards and guidelines.
• Design audit tools to monitor coding accuracy.
• Stay updated on coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
• Perform trend analyses to identify coding variations.
• Adhere to AHIMA standards and official coding guidelines.
• Ensure safety and compliance within policies, budgets, and quality goals.
