Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke is seeking a Cafe Cook to prepare and retherm meals for patients, visitors and staff in a fast-paced hospital setting. You’ll follow standard recipes and documentation requirements, support cashiering, tray assembly and delivery, and keep temperature logs up to date.

This role requires a high school diploma and 1–3 years of food prep experience; SERV-SAFE or Virginia health certification is required or obtainable within a year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 years in commercial or institutional food preparation.
• SERV-SAFE certification or Virginia Health Dept certification, or ability to obtain within a year.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and retherms food for patients, visitors and staff following recipes and guidelines.
• Completes temperature logs and related documentation as required.
• Participates in department activities and orientation of co-workers.
• Supports cashiering, tray assembly, delivery and dishwashing as needed.
• Resolves routine issues under supervision and escalates complex problems.
