Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Patient Services Cook for a full-time day/evening schedule. You will prepare and reheat food for patients, visitors and staff following standard recipes and procedures, and meticulously document temperatures and other logs.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of institutional food preparation. A SERV-SAFE or equivalent certification is needed or obtainable within the first year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 to 3 years in commercial or institutional food preparation preferred.
• SERV-SAFE Certification or equivalent certification within year one.
• Extensive communication, customer interaction and teamwork skills required.
• Ability to multi-task and perform duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of food safety/sanitation helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and/or retherms food for patients, visitors and employees following standard recipes and guidelines.
• Prepares food according to standard recipes and/or standard retherm process.
• Completes required documentation including temperature logs.
• Participates in department activities/meetings and patient/customer satisfaction initiatives.
• Completes general food service tasks including cashier, tray assembly/delivery, and dishwashing.
• Resolve routine issues under supervision; complex issues referred to supervisor.
