Job summary

Heywood-Hospital is seeking a Chief Engineer to manage the hospital's Class 3 boiler plant and associated mechanical systems. You will oversee operations, preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and supervise staff to ensure continuous support of hospital services.

Responsibilities include 24/7 coverage, incident response, and collaboration with Facilities leadership on energy management and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience with boilers and steam-generating equipment.
• Must meet exacting standards and perform skilled repairs as required.
• Driver's license and Mass 3rd Class Engineer license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily boiler plant operations to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Schedule boiler staff for 24/7 coverage, including weekends/holidays.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with records and testing logs.
• Maintain training logs and certifications for boiler staff.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance for boilers and related systems.
• Inspect boiler, steam, chiller, and related systems daily.
• Supervise Asbestos Program as required.
• Respond to plant emergencies and alarms promptly.
• Collaborate with Facilities leadership on capital projects.
