Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a skilled boiler plant operator and supervisor to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant steam generation. The role involves leading engineers and firemen, conducting routine inspections, and maintaining thorough logs.
You'll monitor the energy management system and HVAC equipment, respond to on-site issues promptly, and perform related duties to support hospital operations.
Responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of boilers and auxiliary equipment required for steam generation in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and facility policies. Conducts routine inspections of the boiler plant a minimum of five (5) days per week, maintaining accurate logs of inspections, operating status, and maintenance activities. Ensures availability to respond onsite within one (1) hour of critical boiler plant issues, unless otherwise authorized by the Manager. Provides direction, oversight, and training to 3rd Class Engineers, 1st Class Firemen, and 2nd Class Firemen in the proper operation, maintenance, testing, startup procedures, water treatment practices, and housekeeping standards of the boiler plant.
Monitors boiler and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and reliable operation, promptly reporting unusual conditions, emergencies, equipment malfunctions, or operational concerns to the Manager. Responds to facility maintenance and service requests throughout the hospital, including troubleshooting building systems and performing minor corrective maintenance. Operates and maintains the computerized energy management system, monitors HVAC and air-handling equipment performance as directed and ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational operations.
