Job summary

Ntmconline seeks a Full-Time Day Shift Patient Access Clerk to support hospital admissions in Gainesville, TX. You will register patients, pre-admit for procedures, verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.

Explain billing, patient rights, and HIPAA to patients; collect co-pays when required; maintain accurate records and coordinate with the Business Office and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow. High school diploma required; healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Prefers someone with at least 6 months experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
• Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable speed.
• Ability to use basic office machines efficiently.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Register patients for hospital services from physician offices and pre-admit as needed.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations.
• Interview patients to collect or verify personal/insurance information.
• Explain billing processes, patient rights, and HIPAA; distribute hospital literature.
• Collect co-pays as required and forward payments to the Business Office.
• Maintain documentation to current standards and policies; work well under pressure.
• Communicate with departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
