Job description

Job Description:

The Hospice Scheduler is responsible for managing all aspects of the patient intake process, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and referral sources, responding to customer requests and concerns, and managing the insurance verification and authorization processes.

The Hospice Scheduler also manages accurate, timely completion and submission of billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions. They assess staffing patterns to determine the scheduling of patients daily, schedule patients to ensure continuity of care and equitable staff assignments, and prepare weekend assignments and monthly staff schedules.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year experience preferably in hospice and healthcare, or graduation from a one or two-year business college preferred.
• At least one year experience in clinical records management, preferably in hospice care operations, and knowledge of information systems required.
• Compliance with acceptable professional standards and practices.
• Good communication and public relations skills.
• Ability to demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation.
• Ability to deal tactfully with patients, family members, referral sources, and payers.
