Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a licensed physician (MD or DO) for hospice care leadership. You will conduct face-to-face assessments, manage pain and symptoms, and guide families through end-of-life decisions.

The role involves on-call coverage, coordination with an interdisciplinary team, and home visits as needed. Ideal candidates hold an active state license, CPR certification, hospital staff privileges, and membership in good standing with at least one contracted hospital.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice in the relevant state.
• Medical staff membership in good standing at at least one contracted hospital.
• CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and agency-liability insurance for home visits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, face-to-face assessments and provide palliative care to alleviate pain.
• Oversee admissions, discharges, certifications, recertifications and medication management.
• Lead goals-of-care discussions with patients and families.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team and local physicians to ensure seamless transitions.
• Provide on-call coverage for medical emergencies and patient referrals; collaborate with care center physicians.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure regulatory compliance.
