Job summary

Heather's House is an 18-bed inpatient hospice unit focused on comfort, presence, and doing things the right way when patients and families need it most. As a Hospice Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing care to hospice patients in coordination with the interdisciplinary team (IDG) that is consistent with the goals, philosophy, and purpose of HIA Hospice.

This position will be 12-hour night shifts, rotating every 3rd weekend, and two holidays per year.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Registered Nurse (RN) degree; BSN preferred.
• Current state RN licensure in North Dakota and Minnesota (or willing to obtain dual licensure).
• Current driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Minimum of one year of hospital staff nurse experience or two years in health care.
• Strong clinical and critical thinking skills; excellent interpersonal communication.
• Flexibility in scheduling; team player; experience with end-of-life care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient comfort-focused care through assessments, planning, triage, intervention, and evaluation.
• Perform admissions assessments for the inpatient unit based on care level requirements.
• Manage pain and symptoms to improve patient comfort and dignity at end of life.
• Assess patient/family needs while hospice care is provided inpatient.
• Develop/update care plans in collaboration with patient/family and IDG.
• Participate in daily rounds with inpatient IDG to plan for needs.
• Implement physician orders accurately and effectively.
• Educate patient/family in caregiving in preparation for discharge.
• Provide compassionate support and act as liaison for the care team.
• Coordinate discharge planning with home care team and inpatient LSW.
• Complete and lock documentation on the same day as contact/communication.
