Job summary

Providence at Home with Compassus in Torrance, CA is seeking an Admissions RN to manage referrals from phone and fax, co-sign referrals by LVNs, and coordinate initial hospice assessments with the clinical team. The role is 3 days per week, 8-hour shifts with flexible options.

You will prioritize daily referrals, enter patient data into the EMR, verify physician orders, ensure insurance eligibility, work with care coordinators, and ensure compliance with Medicare and state hospice regulations.

Qualifications

• Education to attain RN Licensure is required.
• 1 year Registered Nurse experience required.
• Hospice/Palliative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize daily referrals to guarantee timely patient admission.
• Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously.
• Checks and follows up on referrals daily.
• Enters referral information into the EMR.
• Verifies orders from physician and documents CTI information in EMR.
• Ascertains if insurance is contracted with St. Joseph Hospice Services for reimbursement.
• Interfaces with the Insurance Verification/Billing Specialist as needed.
• Communicates with Patient Care Supervisor and Patient Care Coordinator to coordinate services.
• Keeps Pharmacy and PBM informed of admissions and faxes them necessary documents.
• Applies Medicare and State Regulations pertaining to hospice when accepting a referral.
• Co-signs referrals for LVN’s and non-clinical staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
