The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a part-time adjunct faculty member in Horticulture to teach day, evening, and weekend courses at our Dayton, Ohio campus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in horticulture, greenhouse management or equivalent required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
  • Professionalism and outstanding written and oral communication skills required
  • Ability to effectively use technology required
  • Preference given to candidates with horticulture or greenhouse management teaching experience
  • Demonstration of willingness to pursue professional development activities required
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for a community college environment

Responsibilities

  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with policies
  • Employ instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student learning
  • Evaluate and return student work promptly to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters by deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Cannot be assigned to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester

Position Summary

The SinclairAgriculture Department is currently seeking a part-timeadjunct faculty to teach face-to-face for day, evening, and weekendcourses at our main campus in Dayton, Ohio.

The Agriculture Department is currently seeking a qualifiedadjunct faculty member to teach Natural Resources and Horticulturecourses for the upcoming term. The starting pay for Adjunct Facultyis $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach. For the full list of available courses to teach, please explore our coursecatalog.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by thedepartment
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections inaccordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in horticulture, greenhousemanagement or equivalent required
