Job summary

Sinclair Community College’s Biology Department seeks adjunct faculty available afternoons and evenings, Monday–Thursday, to teach courses developed by the department. The starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach; for the full list of available courses, please explore our course catalog.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a master’s degree in biology required; or a master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the content area required.
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment.
• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction.

Responsibilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate.
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

The Sinclair Biology Department utilizes labs to enhance the lecture presentations of our course offerings. The labs include general bio labs and anatomy and physiology labs. With these great academic facilities, students have plenty of opportunities to gain hands‑on experience through our programs.
