Job summary

The DC Army National Guard seeks Horizontal Construction Engineers to clear obstacles and prepare sites for roads, airfields, and buildings. You’ll operate bulldozers, road grad ers, and other heavy equipment, level earth for runways, and assist in combat engineer missions.

Training includes basic and advanced instruction with generous benefits. As part of the Guard, expect paid training, a monthly paycheck, and access to tuition assistance and veterans benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be enlisted in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Level earth for runways and roadbeds.
• Clear, excavate, and dig areas of construction sites.
• Spread fill material and move heavy materials.
• Transport heavy construction equipment with a tractor-trailer.
• Move heavy building materials with cranes.
• Assist in combat engineer missions.
