Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Horizontal Construction Engineer to clear obstacles for roads, airfields, and buildings. You will operate bulldozers, roadgraders and other heavy equipment to support construction.

Training includes nine weeks Basic Training and nine weeks Advanced Individual Training, with pay while you learn and tuition assistance possibilities. Benefits include healthcare, Montgomery GI Bill, retirement benefits for part‑time service, and a path to civilian construction

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Requires successful military enlistment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the information on grade stakes and placing them.
• Cut and spread fill material with scraper.
• Level earth for runways and roadbeds.
• Clear, excavate, and dig areas of construction sites.
• Transport heavy construction equipment with a tractor‑trailer.
• Move heavy building materials with cranes.
• Assist in combat engineer missions.
