Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Horizontal Construction Engineer to operate bulldozers, roadgraders and other large equipment to clear obstacles for road, airfield, or building projects.

You will level earth for runways and roadbeds, excavate and move materials, transport heavy equipment, and support combat engineer missions, with training that leads to civilian construction careers and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
• Must meet citizenship requirements

Responsibilities

• Analyze the information on grade stakes and placing them
• Cut and spread fill material with scraper
• Level earth for runways and roadbeds
• Clear, excavate, and dig areas of construction sites
• Transport heavy construction equipment with a tractor-trailer
