Job summary

Breakaway Prep LLC is seeking an experienced Economics tutor for part-time, in-person sessions with students in grades 7–12 in New Jersey. You will tutor Honors Economics and AP Economics, focusing on building student confidence and measurable progress.

We offer a supportive environment, flexible hours, and the opportunity to set your own schedule, with compensation starting at $30 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience tutoring Economics (Honors or AP level strongly preferred)
• Has reliable transportation
• Passion for teaching middle and high school students and strong social skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Multiple positive references
• Experience with AP Economics curriculum and AP exam preparation preferred
• Ability to pass a background check

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Economics tutor or teacher looking to work with motivated students in a supportive, professional environment? Do you have a strong track record working with students in Middle School and High School? Do you enjoy one-on-one instruction and helping students build confidence and get measurable results?

Breakaway is seeking a passionate and engaging Economics tutor to work with students in Honors Economics and AP Economics. Tutors who join our team are able to set their own schedules for one-on-one sessions. Compensation starts at $30 per hour, commensurate with experience.

About Us:

Breakaway Prep is a boutique tutoring and test prep company based in Chatham, NJ, with offices in Summit, Millburn, Maplewood, Livingston, Morristown, Westfield, Berkeley Heights, and Montclair. We primarily work with students in grades 7–12, providing instruction for the SAT, ACT, ISEE/SSAT, AP exams, as well as specific academic subjects like economics.

Requirements:

1. 1+ years of experience tutoring or teaching Economics (Honors or AP level strongly preferred)

2. Bachelor's Degree in Economics or a related field

3. Has reliable transportation

4. Passion for teaching middle and high school students and strong social skills

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

6. Multiple positive references

7. Experience with AP Economics curriculum and AP exam preparation preferred

8. Ability to pass a background check
