Job summary

Breakaway Prep is seeking experienced and sociable ELA tutors to work one-on-one with motivated middle and high school students at multiple New Jersey offices. Tutors set their own schedules for in-person sessions.

Compensation starts at $30 per hour, and the ideal candidate is reliable, enthusiastic about education, and able to build student confidence with measurable results. Offices are located in Chatham and surrounding towns; the role offers flexible hours, in-person work, and opportunities

Qualifications

• 1+ years of tutoring or teaching English (Honors or AP experience preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Reliable transportation required
• Passion for teaching middle and high school students with strong social skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Multiple positive references
• Experience with SAT and/or ACT test preparation preferred (training provided for strong candidates)
• Ability to pass a background check
• Selected candidates may be asked to complete a brief online skills assessment for SAT/ACT English and Reading to demonstrate subject mastery

About Us:

Breakaway Prep is a boutique tutoring and test prep company based in Chatham, NJ, with offices in Summit, Millburn, Maplewood, Livingston, Morristown, Westfield, Berkeley Heights, and Montclair. We primarily work with students in grades 7–12, providing instruction for the SAT, ACT, ISEE/SSAT, AP exams, as well as specific academic subjects.
