Job summary

Breakaway Prep is a boutique tutoring and test-prep company based in Chatham, NJ, offering in-person, part-time ELA tutoring for middle and high school students across our multiple offices. Tutors set their own schedules for one-on-one sessions, with competitive compensation starting at $30 per hour.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's Degree, at least one year of tutoring or teaching English (Honors or AP preferred), reliable transportation, strong verbal and written communication, and

Qualifications

• 1+ years of tutoring or teaching English (Honors or AP experience preferred).
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Strong passion for teaching middle and high school students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Multiple positive references.
• SAT/ACT test prep experience preferred (training provided).
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one English tutoring to middle and high school students.
• Prepare lesson plans and adapt to student needs.
• Help students prepare for SAT/ACT English and Reading.
• Maintain reliable transportation to multiple offices.
• Communicate progress with families when needed.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication.
• Collaborate with Breakaway Prep staff to support student achievement.
• Complete a background check and pass a skills assessment if required.

Job Summary: Looking for Part-Time Tutors

Are you an experienced academic tutor or teacher looking to work with motivated students in a supportive, professional environment? Do you have a strong track record working with students in Middle School and High School? Do you enjoy one-on-one instruction and helping students build confidence and get measurable results?

Breakaway is seeking passionate and sociable ELA tutors available to work at multiple offices. Tutors who join our team set their own schedules for one-on-one sessions. Compensation starts at $30 per hour. The ideal candidate is reliable, understanding, and has a passion for education.

About Us:

Breakaway Prep is a boutique tutoring and test prep company based in Chatham, NJ, with offices in Summit, Millburn, Maplewood, Livingston, Morristown, Westfield, Berkeley Heights, and Montclair. We primarily work with students in grades 7-12, providing instruction for the SAT, ACT, ISEE/SSAT, AP exams, as well as specific academic subjects.

Responsibilities:

1. 1+ years of experience tutoring or teaching English (Honors or AP experience preferred)
2. Bachelor's Degree
3. Has reliable transportation
4. Passion for teaching middle and high school students and strong social skills
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Multiple positive references
7. Experience with SAT and/or ACT test preparation preferred (training provided for strong candidates).
8. Ability to pass a background check
