Job summary

Optum is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support IL Home Health in the Englewood, Chatham, and Hyde Park areas of Chicago. You will perform treatment and provide exercise instruction as part of the established plan of care.

You will follow state laws and work under a supervising PT, instruct patients and families in therapy activities, and coordinate care with the rest of the healthcare team. A weekend rotation is required and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care and follow the plan of care defined by the supervising PT.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT and healthcare team the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition.
• Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and others in therapy within the scope of the PTA.
