Job summary

Rio Grande Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer specializing in Closed-End Home Equity Loans and HELOCs. You will guide applicants through the lending process, collect and review financial documentation, and coordinate with internal staff to close loans in compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years related experience
• 2-year college degree or completion of specialized course of study

Responsibilities

• Manage home equity loan and HELOC leads with timely communication and guidance throughout the loan process
• Interview loan applicants to discuss financial needs and explain home equity products, terms, and financing options
• Collect and review credit, income, asset and property documentation; evaluate finances and prepare complete underwriting packages
• Prepare disclosures, obtain signatures, and explain terms, fees, and closing costs per regulatory and organizational requirements
• Submit complete loan applications to Mortgage Specialist and coordinate with internal partners for timely progression and closing
• Communicate loan rates, rate-locks, and financing alternatives; resolve questions and discrepancies
• Notify applicants of decisions and conditions in a professional and timely manner
• Develop relationships with referral sources to generate mortgage opportunities
• Maintain NMLS licensing and SAFE Act compliance
• Verify CIP information and perform OFAC screening as applicable
• Report suspicious activity per risk procedures
• Maintain knowledge of lending and regulatory requirements
• Other duties as assigned
