Job summary

General Electric Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to review residential mortgage applications, evaluate borrower creditworthiness, and ensure compliance with guidelines and regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on underwriting HELOCs, equity-related loans, and related lines, with collaboration among processors and loan officers to validate conditions and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year mortgage experience or equivalent.
• Ability to review loan documents and credit reports.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a limited range of mortgage loans, focusing on HELOCs, equity-related products, and related lines.
• Review mortgage loan applications, credit reports, financial documents, and collateral to make approval/denial decisions.
• Assess loan risk and request additional information as needed.
• Communicate approval conditions with processors and loan officers.
• Review property appraisals to confirm collateral value.
• Complete GECU mortgage lending and Elevate U! training courses.
• Maintain the required NMLS designation.
• Perform other assigned duties.
