Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
• Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience.
• Minimum of 1-year experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred).
• Home dialysis therapy experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs essential functions under supervision with guidance from Educator/Preceptor.
• Collects and analyzes dialysis data, documenting in the medical record.
• Assesses and documents patient/family learning needs to provide education.
• Directs and provides safe delivery of dialysis therapy with the care team.
• Administers medications as prescribed and documents justification.
• Assists with emergency response measures.
• Mentors staff and participates in training/orientation.
• Ensures proper specimen collection, processing, and lab result handling.
• Updates nursing assessment and plan of care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Educates patients about transplant and home dialysis options.
