Job summary

Mederi Caretenders, part of LHC Group within the Optum family, is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to deliver occupational therapy to patients to help restore their fullest physical ability in home care.

Key responsibilities include following state laws, executing the plan of care, observing patient progress, and educating patients, families and other caregivers. This role requires flexibility to work with diverse patients and settings.

Qualifications

• Current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure in state of practice.
• Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Follow all state laws governing occupational therapy in home care and the treatment plan as defined by the supervising OT.
• Follow the plan of care and aid patients in evidence-based treatment.
• Observe and report patient responses to treatment to nurse supervisor and physician.
• Instruct patient, family, caregiver and other health-care team members in therapy areas within the OTA scope.
• Provide care to diverse patient populations regardless of race, creed, color, sex, disability, or income.
