Job summary

VITAS Healthcare seeks a Chaplain to join an interdisciplinary team. The role focuses on spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff, delivering pastoral care and counseling as guided by assessment and setting.

The Chaplain works with diverse beliefs and values, aiming for excellence and compassionate, skilled support. Qualified candidates should have ordination or commission for ministry, endorsement in good standing with their faith body, and CPE experience.

Qualifications

• Ordination or Commission to function in a ministry of pastoral care.
• Endorsement and good standing with his/her faith body.
• Five years of pastoral experience preferred – two in a clinical setting.
• CPE: 1 unit (400 hours), preferably two or more, accredited by ACP E, NAC Chaplains, or Canadian CP Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care interventions including pastoral counseling.
• Address spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers and staff.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support spiritual well‑being during illness, loss and death.

Education

Master's of Divinity or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited seminary
