Job summary

VITAS Healthcare is seeking a Chaplain to join our interdisciplinary team, focusing on the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers and staff. The Chaplain provides pastoral care interventions and counseling, guided by spiritual assessment and the specific clinical setting.

Qualified candidates should have ordination or commission, endorsement with their faith body, and substantial pastoral experience, including CPE credentials.

Qualifications

• Ordination or Commission to function in pastoral care ministry.
• Endorsement and good standing with faith body.
• Five years of pastoral experience preferred — two in a clinical setting.
• Minimum 1 unit (400 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by recognized bodies.
• Equivalencies to CPE may include clinical pastoral educational experience with supervision, peer group reflection, or related certifications.
• Knowledge of spiritual dynamics of illness, loss and death.
• Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Commitment to professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care interventions and counseling to patients, families, caregivers and staff.
• Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team supporting spiritual care.
• Address spiritual needs and support during illness, loss, and bereavement.
