Qualifikationen

• Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required; PhD preferred.
• Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board Science of Nuclear Medicine or American Board of Health Physics or other medical physics board certification.

Aufgaben

• Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serves as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Registration and RAM licenses; liaison to the state health services authority.
• Develops and evaluates radiation safety policies to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations for x-ray and other imaging equipment; troubleshoots image quality issues.
• Performs dosimetry calculations to meet regulatory standards; designs shielding to limit public exposure.
• Coordinates space planning with architects using ALARA principles.
• Participates in quarterly reviews to ensure compliance with radiation safety requirements.
• Investigates radiation incidents with health physicist and implements corrective actions.
• Leads Radiation Protocol Committees and Radiation Safety Committees to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance.
• Assists with ACR accreditations as needed; coordinates regulatory surveys and inspections.
• Oversees acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and recommendations on shielding and performance.
