Job summary

Sylvania in Redding, CA seeks a volunteer volleyball activity supervisor to teach basics, coordinate practices, and promote teamwork and fitness after school.

The role requires planning announcements, creating flyers for newsletters, managing rosters, and coordinating with parents and school staff. You’ll lead weekly sessions, ensure safety, and supervise setup/cleanup with custodial support as needed.

Expected minimum 30 hours, with stipends disbursed half in December and half in June.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating after-school activities or school clubs.
• Ability to plan and communicate schedules and changes to families.
• Ability to maintain student roster and attendance records.

Responsibilities

• Teach basic volleyball rules, skills (serving, passing, setting) and promote teamwork.
• Organize and lead practices and coach during matches.
• Coordinate with parents, staff, and custodial services for setup/cleanup.

• Marketing and communicating the activity:
• • Plan to announce both the start and the end of the activity and provide updates, as relevant.
  • Create digital (PNG/JPEG formats only) and print flyer(s) for the weekly newsletter and posting in designated spots.
  • Announcements (morning audio and for The Den)
• Regular meetings between either 7:00am - 8:00am or 3:00pm - 4:00pm (or later if applicable). Be in location prior to start. If after school, stay with all students until all are picked up.
• Communicate via Parent Square or Email with the parent of the club members regarding schedule, schedule changes and cancellations. Please give as much notice as possible when canceling and be sure this information is communicated to the parents, not just announced in the building.
• Setup and cleanup the area used for the activity.
• • Please request custodial assistance, with sufficient notice, when appropriate.
• Maintain roster and attendance of students, submit or share at midpoint and end of activity.
• Our volleyball advisor is responsible for teaching the fundamental rules and skills of the sport, including serving, passing, and setting. They also organize and lead practices, coach the team during matches, and promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness among the players.

½ Stipend Paid in December, ½ Paid in June
