Job summary

The HIV/AIDS Data Quality Consultant supports statewide HIV surveillance by maintaining accurate, timely data within the electronic HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS) and the NC Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NC EDSS). The role requires independent work planning, strong data-management skills, and clear communication with program partners.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting public health reporting regulations for HIV/AIDS surveillance.
• Experience using eHARS and NC EDSS to enter and review surveillance data.
• Ability to plan independently and communicate clearly with program partners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HIV surveillance data in eHARS and NC EDSS for statewide reporting.
• Evaluate case-report workflows and refer reports for field investigation.
• Coordinate pediatric HIV surveillance data collection and reporting.
• Review incoming case information to enable rapid field interviews.
• Prepare data sets for program management and surveillance reporting needs.
• Ensure data quality and confidentiality in all data handling.
• Support monthly data transmissions to CDC and verify technical accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes and system integrations.
• Collaborate with internal staff to resolve data discrepancies and maintain quality.
