Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Histotechnologist at St. Vincent Medical Center Medical Office Building 2 to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination.

The role focuses on accurate processing, embedding and staining, supporting pathologists with quality slides and timely results. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Lab Science, Chemistry, or Biology, with histology experience and ASCP eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Lab Science, Chemistry, or Biology is required.
• Histotechnologist (HLT) certification is preferred (not required).
• One year Histology or Clinical Lab experience is preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
• Assists the Pathologist in the gross examination of surgical specimens and in frozen section procedures.
• Reports accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Documents problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when needed.
• Operates and maintains histology area lab equipment in proper state of readiness and sharpens/hone microtome knives.
• Monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and places orders for replacements as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
