Mercy Health in Ohio seeks a Histotechnologist to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, deep understanding of tissue chemistry, and test selection.

The candidate will work with surgical, diagnostic, or autopsy specimens, ensuring proper sorting, logging, and prioritization to meet pathology standards. Collaboration with lab staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in lab science, chemistry, or biology required.
• BS in lab science/chemistry/biology required for RSFH hires (as of 4/21/25).
• Certification: Histotechnologist (HLT) preferred but not required.

Responsabilités

• Performs histological procedures: accessioning, processing, embedding, microtomy, staining.
• Assists Pathologist in gross examination and frozen sections.
• Reports accurate and timely results for patient care.
• Documents issues affecting test performance and takes corrective actions.
• Operates and maintains histology lab equipment and supplies inventory.
• Monitors supplies, equipment, and reagents; places orders for replacements.
• Other duties as assigned.
