Job summary

Stormont Vail HealthCare, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Histotechnologist to prepare tissue blocks and slides under the supervision of a pathologist. You will process tissues, embed, section, stain, and cover-slip slides while maintaining quality and safety in a busy hospital laboratory.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of hospital pathology lab experience; ASCP HT/HTL certification is preferred or obtainable. On-site, day shift, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year hospital pathology lab experience.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares histologic slides per established procedures for the Pathologist, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, mounting, staining and cover slipping.
• Performs routine stains, special stains and IHC stains as requested by the Pathologist.
• Maintains solutions and stains and troubleshoots stain quality.
• Operates and maintains analytical equipment and stainers; documents quality control and maintenance logs.
• Assists with teaching, training and mentoring interns and trainees in the department.
• Develops and validates procedures; participates in process improvement projects.
