Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled histology technician to prepare slides from surgical and postmortem tissues for diagnostic review. You will embed, section, stain, and label specimens while supporting pathologists during intraoperative consultations and frozen sections.

Strong attention to quality control and instrument maintenance is essential in a fast-paced lab environment. Minimum HT (ASCP) certification (or eligibility to obtain within 12 months) and preferred one year of histology

Qualifications

• HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility must be obtained within one year of hire.
• Preferred one year of clinical histology experience.

Responsibilities

• Embed, section, label, and process tissue sections to produce slides for review.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and ensure quality control.
• Perform routine and special staining procedures.
• Assist pathologist in intraoperative consultations and frozen sections.
• Maintain clean work area and supply levels; assist with specimen collection if needed.
