Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a Histotechnician to perform and analyze clinical laboratory procedures supporting anatomic pathology.

Responsibilities include tissue processing, slide preparation, quality control, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with medical staff. Requires HT or HCTP licensure and ASCP HT certification preferred; 1 year histopathology experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Histotechnology or related field.
• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided: WV HCTP or Trainee license.
• Current Histotechnician (HT) certification preferred.
• One year of laboratory experience in histopathology.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic accessioning, processing, inventory, and ordering.
• Prepare tissue and produce microscopic slides using fixation, embedding, sectioning and staining.
• Operate laboratory equipment (cryostats, microtomes, slide stainers, autoclave) and perform QC/maintenance.
• Record work details and maintain SOP-guided documentation.
• Communicate with lab sections and participate in education and teaching activities.
