Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates degree (if hired after 1/19/2025) with a combination of biology/chemistry coursework or 60 semester hours in biology/chemistry.
• Must obtain Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification within 1 year of hire.
• Must meet requirements for performing high complexity testing under CLIA and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine histology procedures and prepares stained slides for microscopic review by the Pathologist.
• Embeds tissues, processes samples, and ensures quality and adequacy of processing.
• Documents workflow, issues, and quality checks; communicates with pathologists, residents, and supervisors.
• Operates automated instruments to stain and coverslip slides; performs manual methods during downtimes.
• Participates in safety, infection control, and laboratory quality systems; supports process improvements as needed.
