Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a part-time Histology Technician for a 20-hour/week position in Burlington, VT. The role involves preparing surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimens for study, embedding, microtomy, and staining with strict QC and regulatory compliance.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with HT ASCP registration preferred. Experience in a hospital histology lab is required, with attention to cleanliness, safety, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and registration training as required for attainment.
• Licensure/Certification: HT ASCP registration preferred.
• For Biopsy Processing: must meet specified education criteria or ABHES/NAACLS training requirements.

Responsabilités

• Embeds surgical, biopsy and autopsy specimens with proper orientation.
• Performs microtomy and produces high quality sections meeting standards.
• H&E and special stains with appropriate controls within approved time frame.
• Uses computer systems to move workload through the lab and maintain logs.
• Maintains block-numbering accuracy and documents QC actions.
• Performs non-routine procedures like Immunohistochemistry with proper controls.
• Prepares stains, ensures reagents are available and performs basic maintenance.
• Maintains a clean, hygienic work area and handles hazardous waste per policy.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and mandatory education.
