Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Histology Technician responsible for processing and embedding tissue in paraffin, cutting blocks with microtomes, and performing routine and special stains. You will cover shifts as needed and maintain patient identification on all slides and blocks.

Ideal candidates will have an AS/ASc histology degree with clinical experience and strong computer skills to work with lab systems and MS Office applications in a fast-paced pathology setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in histology or 2-year AS with chemistry/biology coursework and clinical histology experience.
• ASCP Registered or Histotechnologist preferred; histology program completion preferred.
• Strong computer skills including web-based apps and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Process and embed tissue in paraffin; cut paraffin blocks with microtomes.
• Prepare stains and solutions; perform routine and special staining.
• Coverslip and evaluate stained sections visually for quality.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and a clean work environment per SOPs.
• Participate in inter-shift coverage for time off and emergencies.
• Maintain patient identification on slides and blocks.
