Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a part‑time Histology Technician to join our lab in Massachusetts. The role involves embedding, microtomy, H&E and special stains, and immunohistochemistry, with emphasis on QC and regulatory compliance.

The position supports tissue processing for surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimens and requires strong attention to documentation. Minimum two years of hospital histology experience is expected; HT ASCP registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent plus additional training for attainment of registration.
• HT ASCP registration preferred.
• For Biopsy Processing, degree or equivalent with specified lab science coursework and ABHES/NAACLS training or equivalent.
• Must have minimum two years full‑time hospital histology lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Embeds surgical, biopsy and autopsy specimens with proper orientation.
• Produces high quality tissue sections (microtomy)
• Performs H&E and routine special stains with appropriate controls
• Operates lab computer system and maintains QC logs
• Conducts Immunohistochemistry and other non-routine stains
• Maintains supplies and performs basic maintenance as scheduled
• Maintains a clean, compliant work area and proper waste handling
