Labcorp is seeking a Histology Professional to join our team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI. The role is on-site with a 2nd shift schedule, focusing on tissue processing and slide preparation to support accurate diagnostics.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in a chemical/biological science and 1+ year histology experience, with ASCP certification preferred and IHC exposure beneficial. Compliance with quality control and safety protocols is essential.

LabCorp is seeking a Histology Professional to join our team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI.

Work Schedule: 2nd shift

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Ability to cut a wild array of specimen types
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Ability to use IHC and Special Stains
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 1 or more years of experience in histology as a histotechnician or histotechnologist

Preferred Qualifications

• Histology and/or ASCP certification
• 2 or more years of experience in histology
• 6 months or more experience with IHC and Special Stains.
• Ability to cut a wild array of specimen types.

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
• Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
