Labcorp in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Histology Lab Services Team Lead for the 2nd shift at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. You will supervise daily operations, train staff, and ensure timely, accurate testing results.

The role requires an associate degree in a chemical or biological science and at least 2 years as histotechnologist/histotechnician; preferred are a bachelor’s degree, IHC/SP stains experience, and ASCP certification. The lab offers growth and stability.

Work Schedule: 2nd shift

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the histology laboratory
• Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessaryAssist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology 2 years or more of experience as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 6 months or more experience with IHC and Special Stains.
• Ability to cut a wild array of specimen types.
• Histology and/or ASCP certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
