Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Histotechnologist to join our Phoenix, AZ team. The role involves processing tissue specimens, preparing slides, and performing immunohistochemical tests to support patient care.

You will handle routine staining, maintain equipment, and ensure quality control, working Tuesday through Saturday, 2 PM to 10:30 PM. Applicants should have a Histology degree or related science background with clinical lab experience and/or Histology certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Histology or a related chemical/biological science with lab experience or Histology certification program (min 9 months).
• Experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred, with familiarity in histology procedures.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Prepare histopathology slides and perform immunohistochemical tests.
• Section embedded tissue with a microtome and mount sections on slides.
• Run routine and special staining procedures and report results.
• Maintain and calibrate manual and automated instruments.
• Document equipment logs, preventive maintenance, and quality control.

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.

Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 2PM - 10:30 PM

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science with 1 or more years of experience in a clinical lab (within the past 5 years) or completion of a Histology certification program (min 9 months)

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications

Additional Job Standards

• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Immunohistochemistry experience
• Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
• Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
