This is a full-time 40-hour-a-week position.

The Position

The Histotechnologist (HT) collaborates with veterinary staff and the Pathology team to provide high-quality anatomical laboratory services to Angell clients. These services include technical procedures, customer service, computer entry, clerical tasks, specimen processing, and laboratory testing of varying complexity. The role also involves providing procedural information related to Histology and Necropsy, specimen requirements, and other laboratory areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare surgical tissue samples for microscopic analysis, ensuring quality slides for staining, managing workload to meet Turn-Around-Times (TATs) without compromising quality, and working independently.
  2. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with histopathology instrumentation and equipment, perform routine and complex maintenance, and communicate problems effectively.
  3. Provide excellent customer service by answering calls and emails, resolving inquiries, and offering technical guidance to veterinarians and staff.
  4. Assist in training new and current employees, documenting progress and troubleshooting as needed.
  5. Support Pathologists during necropsies and tissue sample collection for diagnostics.
  6. Perform tissue staining for routine and special stains, record Quality Control results, and evaluate stain quality before releasing sections.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate of an NAACL-accredited Histotechnology program with certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or (HTL) by ASCP, or equivalent credentialing.
