Job description

Job Title: Histotechnologist (HT)

Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Position Overview

The Histotechnologist (HT) collaborates with veterinary staff and the Pathology team to deliver high-quality anatomical laboratory services. Responsibilities include specimen processing, laboratory testing, providing procedural information, and supporting histology and necropsy procedures.

Key Duties

1. Prepare surgical tissue samples for microscopic analysis, ensuring quality and timely processing.
2. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain histopathology equipment, documenting maintenance and repairs.
3. Provide excellent customer service by handling inquiries via phone and email, and offering technical support to veterinarians and staff.
4. Assist in training new and current employees, monitoring their progress.
5. Support necropsies and tissue collection for diagnostic purposes.
6. Perform tissue staining for routine and special stains, ensuring quality control and proper documentation.

Applicant Requirements

Education: Graduate of an NAACL-accredited Histotechnology program with certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or (HTL) by ASCP or equivalent.

Experience: 1-3 years in a histopathology laboratory, with at least 1 year of wet trimming experience preferred.
