Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a qualified Histotechnician to join our pathology services. Under direct supervision, you will prepare tissue and other samples for examination by pathologists, perform routine histology tasks, and ensure quality control across processing and staining workflows.

Qualified candidates hold an associate degree with chemistry/biology coursework or an HT program, and histotechnician certification or eligibility within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Associates degree including coursework in chemistry and biology or completion of an accredited histotechnician (HT) program.
• Histotechnician certification or certified within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens for histology and gross description.
• Embed specimens and cut slides that are representative.
• Stain slides with routine H&E and verify quality.
• Label and distribute slides; perform QC on equipment.
• Operate and calibrate tissue processing and labeling equipment.
• Maintain stain setup and document QC occurrences.
• Prepare Pap, Gynecologic, and Non-Gyn specimens with patient data.
• Maintain infection-control standards and a clean work environment.
